    First Place-Gokōnomiya Shrine

    This tour will visit a local shrine, a landmark in the Fushimi area.
    The water is said to be one of the seven best waters in Fushimi, and there is a legend that water gushed out from the precincts of the shrine in the olden days, and that it smelled so good that drinking it instantly cured illnesses.
    Let us pray together for happiness, health, and success as we experience the history of Japan and the rituals of the shrine.
    Once a year, the shrine is also famous for its famous tea ceremony.

    Second Place-Sake breweries

    It is a sake brewery with a history of about 100 years that was revitalized after the brewery's history had come to a close.
    The brewer himself is the toji (master brewer) and offers many kinds of sake in small quantities.
    There are three types of sake to choose from: clean sake, strong sake, and fragrant, well-known sake.
    We do not visit on Wednesdays, when the restaurant is closed.
    Tasting may not be available if the place is crowded.

    From Third place onwards-Liquor Store

    A sake shop run by the fourth generation of a family that has been in business for over 100 years.
    Its passion for sake is probably the best in Kyoto.
    Enjoy a sake comparison of the owner's sake selections, from daiginjo to junmai sake.

    From Fourth place onwards-Sake breweries

    The first sake brewery established in Fushimi has a 400-year history and is the second largest in Japan.
    After learning about the traditional sake making process at the Sake Museum, visitors can learn more about sake by tasting three different types of sake from the brewery.
    At the souvenir shop, you can also buy limited edition sake only available here.

    From Fifth place onwards-Sake breweries

    We will visit one location, taking into account the regular closing days of each sake brewery.
    Sake breweries that have 350 years of history and produce sake using "Shirakikusui," one of Fushimi's famous waters, or sake breweries that have only 70 years of history but are very famous in Japan.
    You will get to know the whole production process, while getting a feel for the deliciousness of sake by actually tasting freshly made sake.

    From Sixth place onwards-Festival of sake in Fushimi and Delicious meals restaurant.

    This is a hidden gem for locals as well.
    The entrance is narrow, but the interior is very spacious and mysterious, and the restaurant is a Kyoto machiya restaurant born of Kyoto's history.
    Enjoy 18 different kinds of sake from all the sake breweries in Fushimi, Kyoto, and compare them.
    Find out what kind of food goes well with sake.
    This is an option, so please choose according to the situation on the day.
    Restaurant fees are not included in the tour price.
    May not be able to enter if the restaurant is crowded.

What you can expect on this tour

Please join me in Kyoto for my sake tasting experience.
I will introduce you to a couple of my favorite breweries, a liquor store, and explore a local bar.
This area is known for its excellent sake, due in part to the use of "Fushimi," considered a precious holy water, as a secret ingredient.
We, who love sake and sake brewing, would like to share with you the process of sake production, compare sake drinks, and the charm of Kyoto's sake.

Additional Information

Please note that transportation and lunch are not included.
Comfortable shoes are recommended as a little (easy) walking is required.

The legal drinking age in Japan is 20. Parents with children may accompany their children free of charge.
We do not allow children (under 20 years of age) to drink alcohol.
They are welcome to join us for a non-alcoholic, healthy and delicious drink called amazake, which will be given to them.
If you are bringing children, please let us know when you make your reservation.

We walk around 3km, I recommend that you wear comfortable shoes.
Please bring a backpack for souvenir sake bottles.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations received less than one week in advance will receive a 90% refund minus a handling fee.
Cancellations received less than 3 days in advance will receive a 50% refund.
No refunds will be given for cancellations made the day before or the day of the event.
